What is a Shopify collection?
Shopify collections allows you to group products into categories automatically based on certain criteria such as tags, names, or product types. This feature is especially powerful when managing large Shopify stores.
How can I use Shopify collections for my music store?
You can create create a specific tag, for example, "music", and all items tagged with "music" in your Shopify store will automatically be gathered into one collection. This makes it easier for fans to find all your music in one place. You can easily tag multiple items at once on the "Products" page in your Shopify Admin.
What happens when I publish an album with a tracklist to my store using Single?
When you publish an album with a tracklist to your store using Single, two types of products are created:
- One product represents the entire album, and
- Additional products represent each digital track.
This arrangement is necessary to make your tracklist a purchasable list of songs with previews. Each digital track product is tagged as a “Digital Track”, and albums are labelled as a “Digital Album".

Can I filter my collections further in Shopify?
Yes, you can. Shopify provides conditions that you can customize for your collections. For example, if you want to display only full albums in a collection, you can add a condition to exclude all your digital tracks. You just need to ensure to check the box that requires all conditions to be met.

But what if you only want to display full albums in this collection? Simply add another condition to exclude all of your digital tracks. Just make sure you select the box that requires all conditions are met.
How can I expand my use of collections?
With Shopify collections, you can organize and display your products in many different ways. For example, you can create separate collections for CDs, Vinyl, Digital Downloads, or Merch bundles. You can also create collections based on specific conditions that relate to your music. The possibilities are endless and provide an opportunity for you to tailor your store to your customers' needs.
